In today’s society we are surrounded by and are obsessed with all things digital. We cannot ignore it; therefore it is understandable the art world seems to be moving in this way too. But is it appropriate? Is art not all about the physical work; immersing yourself in the artwork, feeling the textures, taking in the scale and experiencing emotion? Why would any artist want to promote themselves on an Instagram account limiting everything to boxes on a screen that are no larger than a postage stamp? I have highlighted this irony by bringing physical painting together with accepted social media stereotypes by taking recognisably digital software such as photoshop and snapchat and bringing them to life.
