My practice explores the conflict of materials through process and the expanded field of painting. Use of colour is acidic and sickly highlighting the artificial and superficial nature of the material – specifically when coupled with a gloss surface. Additionally, drawing attention to the physical qualities of latex is fundamental to the work by way of display and support, which is equally important as an extension of the work. Moreover, my work gives importance to residue that is often deemed as waste or seemingly overlooked.
